In this fun 3-1/2 hour workshop you can explore some fascinating design ideas to use in your garden. The workshop is based on the book, ‘Heaven is a Garden’ by the presenter, Jan Johnsen and will be available for purchase at the workshop. The workshop will involve a Power Point presentation where certain design principles will be introduced, such as The Power of Place, Music for the Eye, and Nature’s Coloring Book.

After the presentation, selected design principles will be explored using a combination of drawing techniques and hands–on spatial exercises.

  • How to incorporate the Golden Proportion in a garden
  • How to draw and then lay out a gently curving walk
  • How to use the circle compass to create special shapes.
  • And more! 


Garden Path


All attendees of the class will be provided the following materials for use in the workshop and to take home to create even more designs for thier own garden:

  • a ruler
  • two pencils
  • graph paper
  • drawing compass to make circles
  • eraser

Seating is limited. Register early for best availablity.

This is a hands on workshop. Come prepared to be creative and ready to design.

Join us for an evening of great food, conversation and divine presentation by garden artist and designer Lucy Hardiman. 

Gardens are for more than just plants. Learn how to incorporate art, furniture and structure to create focal points into your garden to express your own sense of style and personality.

The Symposium Banquet will be held at Grand Street Cafe where dinner will be sautéed salmon, roasted chicken, french green beans, roasted tomato butter sauce, with roasted potatoes. The vegitarian option is Caprise risotto with parmesan roasted shallots, baby tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, red wine balsamic vincotto. Both dinners include a green salad and dessert.
